The trip to the spa began with our getting changed out of our street clothes into the provided robe and slippers. There are separate change rooms for men and women. The robes are not large, but I understand there are 'plus-sized' versions available upon request.
My partner and I sat by the common jacuzzi and completed the necessary health forms. After a brief 10-15min wait, we were escorted to a large room. The room was beautifully appointed. Rose petals strewn everywhere. Two glasses of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were included in our package.
The large tub in the room was filled with warm water and covered in suds and rose petals. It was an enjoyable soak for the two of us, and was an excellent way to relax.
After 20-30 min we were given a knock at the door and instructed to get under the sheets on the massage tables. The massages were wonderful. The therapists asked if there were any areas that required specific attention.
The massages were terrific! Firm, but not painful. If you are looking for a true physiotherapy-esque massage, this may not be a good fit. The massage was firm and therapeutic, but the aim was clearly relaxation.
Once completed, we were escorted back to the main waiting area to enjoy several cups of delicious tea. We were free to remain in the central area as long as we liked.
Overall, a perfect experience.

I'll start with the ambiance of the spa. I've been to several different spa's and it's the first one that I believed the ethos behind the setting. It wasn't pretentious or down right fake like some I've experienced.
The change rooms were immaculate and everything that I wanted was within reach. Being a big guy (6'2 320lbs) it was very nice and especially thoughtful of the staff see that the staff planned ahead and had a larger robe placed in my locker than the standard.
After changing we were ushered into the spa proper... The atmosphere was serene and tranquil. There was a light sansin or Biwa (Japanese lute) playing in the back ground which added to the Asiatic feeling of the spa. The waiting area by the hot tub had nice cushioned benches and then there was a large area at one end that had a small sea of pillows and cushions to enjoy.
On our first day in the hotel my wife and I had a "Lovers Massage" that included a 1 hour couples full body massage with rose oil, Full use of the hot tub and light refreshments.
The massage was amazing the masseuse attended me was very courteous and knowledgeable, she worked out knots I didn't know I had!
After the massage we showered and headed to the hot tub to relax, the hot tub itself was very respectable in size for the capacity of the spa. It was quite enjoyable and the refreshments brought to us were top notch.
The second day of treatment (3 days later) was more of the same quality of service. I had a hot stone massage, It was so good I passed out halfway through!
Then a pedicure and manicure for me.
My wife at the same time had a 1 hour to consult with a makeup artist on staff and get some new ideas and play around with different looks with a trained eye present. Then she had a manicure.
The time difference should have put me a half hour behind my wife due to the lengths of the treatment and we were prepared for that eventuality of me being a half hour behind her, but happily my Manicurist/Pedicurist managed to get me done very quickly we were able to leave together. This is one of the reasons I wholly agree with the 5 star rating Shizen received.
